Jennifer F. Scanlon, President and Chief Executive Officer, UL Solutions

Jennifer F. Scanlon is President and CEO of UL Solutions and a member of the board of directors, roles she has held since 2019. With her deep commitment to science and technology and her extensive experience leading industrial companies, Scanlon leads UL Solutions in its mission of working for a safer world. Under Scanlon’s leadership, UL Solutions completed a successful initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in April 2024.

Before joining UL Solutions, Scanlon served from November 2016 to April 2019 as president and CEO of USG Corporation, a then publicly traded manufacturer of building products. Scanlon spent a total of 16 years at USG and steered the company through a major international expansion, digital transformation and sustainable products evolution.

Scanlon advocates fiercely for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. She dedicates herself to promoting increased diversity in STEM fields, fostering greater diversity in the workforce and improving organizations’ ability to meet the needs of a global customer base.

Scanlon currently serves in key roles for numerous organizations: the Commercial Club of Chicago (Chair of the Civic Committee), the Chicago Council on Global Affairs (Vice Chair of the Board), the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (Class C Director, Chair), the TIC Council (Vice President of the Global Board) and the University of Notre Dame (board of trustees member). Scanlon is the Secretary-Treasurer of the board of the US-China Business Council and was appointed to the U.S.-India CEO Forum. She previously served as a member of the board of directors of USG, from September 2016 to April 2019.

Scanlon earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Relations and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame.

Linda S. Chapin, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Linda S. Chapin has served as an Executive Vice President and our Chief Human Resources Officer since May 2020. As head of Human Resources (HR), Chapin delivers a safe and engaging experience for UL Solutions employees and our customers. Chapin leads our efforts in people strategy, employee experience, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), HR advisory, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and global HR services.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Chapin served as Vice President of Human Resources at Johnson Controls International PLC for seven years — a multi-industrial products manufacturer and service provider — where she was responsible for leading a global team of HR professionals and developing the HR integration program for the merger of Johnson Controls and Tyco International. 

Chapin currently serves on the Executives’ Club of Chicago Board of Advisors and the Chief Human Resources Officers Council II for The Conference Board. 

Chapin earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Southern Illinois University. Additionally, she earned a professional certificate in data and analytics from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

John Genovesi, Executive Vice President and President, Software and Advisory

John Genovesi has served as an Executive Vice President and our President of Software and Advisory since July 2022. As leader of the Software and Advisory group, he connects data and science to protect customer value chains by enhancing product quality, optimizing supply chains and advancing enterprise sustainability. 

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Genovesi served as Chief Operating Officer of Adapdix, an autonomous manufacturing software company, from May 2021 to July 2022, where he was responsible for running business operations and managing the company finances. 

Genovesi previously spent 32 years at Rockwell Automation, an industrial automation and information software company, serving in numerous positions from 1989 to 2021, most recently as Senior Vice President of Enterprise and Software, where he was responsible for scaling the company’s Industry 4.0 software portfolio globally. He currently serves as a board member for the Grenzebach Group.

Genovesi earned a Master of Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University. Additionally, he earned a professional certificate in mergers and acquisitions from the Harvard Business School.

Lynn H. Hancock, Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer

Lynn H. Hancock has served as an Executive Vice President and our Chief Transformation Officer since January 2021. In this role, she harnesses the power of technology, disciplined enterprise project management and strategy implementation to accelerate innovation and transformation that increases value for our customers.

Hancock previously served as a Senior Vice President and our Chief Program Officer, from December 2019 to December 2020.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Hancock spent 15 years at USG Corporation, most recently as Vice President of Advanced Manufacturing, where she was responsible for the design and execution of programs to improve effectiveness and efficiency, implementing new technologies and advancing the workforce. 

Hancock earned a Master of Engineering Management from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University.

Ryan D. Robinson, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Ryan D. Robinson has served as an Executive Vice President and our Chief Financial Officer since May 2017. Robinson drives UL Solutions’ profitable growth through global strategic and financial planning, corporate development, accounting, treasury, tax, internal audit, sourcing and business services.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Robinson served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc., a consumer products retailer, from 2014 to 2017. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer of Best Buy Co., Inc.’s domestic segment from 2007 to 2012, and as Treasurer of Best Buy from 2002 to 2007, with responsibilities covering corporate development, treasury, tax and new business finance.

Robinson earned a Master in Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and marketing from the University of Notre Dame.

Gitte Schjøtz, Executive Vice President and Chief Science and Operations Officer

Gitte Schjøtz has served as an Executive Vice President and our Chief Science and Operations Officer since January 2021. Schjøtz leads UL Solutions’ science and operational organizations to provide trusted expertise and an exceptional customer experience through scientific leadership, global laboratories, field engineering and global regional leadership. 

She joined UL Solutions in 1996 as part of the company’s first acquisition, after having joined Demko A/S in 1993. Schjøtz previously held numerous positions at UL Solutions, including President of our Retail and Industry business segment, President of our Software segment, and President of our Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Greater Asia regions.

Schjøtz serves as a member of the board of directors of OnRobot A/S and Amcham Denmark. She has served on the Market Strategy Board of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and is currently a council member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

Schjøtz earned a Master of Science in finance, strategic marketing and corporate strategy and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and finance from the Copenhagen Business School. Schjøtz earned a certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Business Strategy from the MIT Sloan School of Management. 

Alberto Uggetti, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer

Alberto Uggetti serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of UL Solutions. In this role, he oversees the company’s go-to-market strategy with a focus on account-based-, vertical-, and product- and portfolio-marketing; brand and customer loyalty; and programs that enable the success of the company's business and sales teams.

Additionally, Uggetti is responsible for advancing the organization's account-management capabilities and bringing UL Solutions' full suite of services to our global and strategic customers.

Uggetti joined the company in 2001. Prior to his current role, he served as interim CCO and senior vice president of the UL Solutions Global and Strategic Accounts organization. Earlier, he served as the vice president and general manager of the UL Solutions Environment and Sustainability group, and as vice president and general manager for the HVAC, Appliances and Lighting groups.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, he served as a sales manager in the conformity-assessment business for 10 years. Uggetti studied at the Università degli Studi di Milano in Italy.

Weifang Zhou, Executive Vice President and President, TIC

Weifang Zhou has served as an Executive Vice President and our President of Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) since January 2021. In this role, he guides the strategy and delivery of testing, inspection and certification solutions that help customers mitigate risk, differentiate their products and achieve global market acceptance.

Zhou joined UL Solutions in 2009 and previously held numerous positions, including president of various business units (2015 to 2020), Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, and Vice President and General Manager of the Greater China region. 

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Zhou spent 13 years at General Electric Company, serving in various roles, including CEO and President of the GE Water and Process Technologies division in the Greater China region. 

Zhou earned a Master of Business Administration from City University and a Bachelor of Engineering in hydropower from Hohai University.

Senior Leadership

Jeremy Choy, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Strategy

Jeremy Choy has served as our Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy since May 2022. 

Choy leads the Corporate Strategy team, responsible for devising and driving strategy planning, regional strategy and competitive analysis. He also leads the Corporate Development team, responsible for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and all stages of the deal life cycle — including prioritization, pipeline development, execution and business integration.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Choy served as Chief Financial Officer for Midea Group, a global home appliance and industrial automation company. He was previously an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and HSBC, with experience working in U.S., U.K. and Asia offices.

Choy earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and statistics from the University of Chicago.

Patricia A. Crawford, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Patricia A. Crawford joined UL Solutions in January 2024 and serves as a Senior Vice President and our Chief Information Officer. She leads UL Solutions’ enterprise-wide information technology (IT) strategy to strengthen our business through modern solutions and capabilities across applications, data and infrastructure. Her responsibilities include digital transformation, solution design and stakeholder engagement. 

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Crawford spent 13 years at Aon PLC — a leading global professional services firm — serving in numerous positions, including Senior Vice President/Head of Business Platforms and Chief Information Officer. She previously held key roles at Hewitt (acquired by Aon in 2010), BP PLC, where she led initiatives on continuous improvement and enterprise architecture, and Accenture PLC.

Crawford earned a Master of Science in information and communication sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in management information systems from Ball State University. Additionally, she completed the Strategic Uses of Technology program administered by Stanford University.

Todd J. Denison, Senior Vice President, Global Regions

Todd J. Denison has served as our Senior Vice President of Global Regions since February 2022. Leading UL Solutions’ presence across all our regions (the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa), Denison oversees localized strategies, strengthens partnerships and drives local-for-local service delivery to meet customer and stakeholder needs. He has traveled to more than 30 countries to guide teams, open laboratories and collaborate with customers.

Denison joined UL Solutions in 1999 and has held numerous positions, including SVP of the Americas region; VP/GM of the Appliances, HVAC and Lighting division; VP/GM of the Performance Materials division; VP of Corporate Strategy; VP of Product Safety Finance and Strategy; and various leadership roles in marketing, commercial finance and business unit finance. 

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Denison spent eight years working in finance and business development at Baxter International Inc., a leading global medical products manufacturer. He currently serves as a board member for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).

Denison earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio).

Ghislain Devouge, Senior Vice President, Field Engineering Services

Ghislain Devouge has served as our Senior Vice President of Field Engineering Services since January 2024, leading a team focused on serving thousands of customers around the world through inspections, audits and other field-based services.

Devouge joined UL Solutions in 2016 and previously served as Senior Vice President of Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), Consumer segment, and VP/GM of Global Consumer Technology. In those roles, he helped consumer electronics, IT, appliance, HVAC, lighting, retail, medical and mobility customers fulfill regulatory and industry requirements to access global markets.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Devouge was a consultant at Egon Zehnder, a leading executive search firm, where he led the retail subsegment for Singapore and the digital horizontal practice. He previously spent 15 years at the Proctor & Gamble Company (P&G), where he held numerous positions, including managing director, Prestige Asia Pacific.

Devouge earned a Master of Science in chemical engineering from the Engineering School (France) and a degree in mathematics, physics and chemistry from Lycée Hoche. Additionally, he earned a professional certificate in digital marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

 

Kathy Fieweger, Senior Vice President, Communications

Kathy Fieweger has served as our Senior Vice President of Communications since August 2023, leading all corporate communications efforts globally. In this role, she works across the organization to shape and tell the UL Solutions story of safety science leadership and innovation, ensuring a compelling narrative and delivering accessible insights for both internal and external stakeholders.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Fieweger had a multi-disciplinary career spanning media, marketing, crisis communications, labor and investor relations and more. Most recently she spent 13 years with ArcBest — a publicly held, leading integrated logistics company — serving in numerous roles, including Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), company spokesperson and media, investor and labor relations consultant to the C-suite. She previously held key positions for the City of Chicago, MikeWorldWide, Edelman, FTI Consulting, Inc., U.S. Bank and United Airlines during its Chapter 11 reorganization. 

Prior to her corporate career, Fieweger worked as a journalist at Reuters, the world’s largest global news agency, in various roles of responsibility, including leading the Airline, Aerospace and Defense reporting team during the September 11 attacks and its aftermath. 

Fieweger is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago and has served as a board member for the nonprofit organization Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras.

Fieweger earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies/Journalism from the University of Notre Dame.

Mitchell Ji, Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance

Mitchell Ji has served as our Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance since May 2023. Ji leads our global Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) and decision support organization, serving as an enterprise-wide partner and driving value creation by providing actionable insight to support sound financial decision-making.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Ji spent six years at Baxter International Inc., most recently as Vice President of Finance for the United States, Latin America and Canada businesses. Previously, he served as management consultant at Bain & Company and held several strategic and financial roles at Walgreens and Diageo.

Ji earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and international relations from Yale University.

Nick Linn, Vice President, interim Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary

Nick Linn serves as our interim Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, leading the Legal, Brand Integrity, Ethics and Investigations, Government Affairs and Corporate Communications teams with a steadfast commitment to protecting UL Solutions’ brand and reputation.

Linn joined UL Solutions in August 2021 as Vice President, Legal, Brand Integrity, and Ethics and Investigations.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Linn served as Chief Risk Officer for NTT DATA Services, a global innovator of business and technology services. He previously was a shareholder at Littler Mendelson P.C., where his practice focused on employment litigation and compliance matters. From May 1993 to December 2008, he held various executive positions at Electronic Data Systems Corporation (acquired by the Hewlett-Packard Company in August 2008), including Vice President, Labor and Employment Group of Legal Affairs. 

Linn is admitted to the State Bars of Texas and West Virginia. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Bethany College.

Mette W. Pedersen, Senior Vice President, Labs and Operations

Mette W. Pedersen has served as our Senior Vice President of Laboratories and Operations since January 2021. Her responsibilities include optimizing UL Solutions’ laboratory operations to meet today’s customer needs while laying the foundation for the future. Pedersen’s leadership skills enable her to maintain a dynamic culture, and her extensive experience in conformity assessment and international standards helps her support global customers in their pursuit of market access.

Pedersen joined UL Solutions in 1997 and has held numerous positions, including Vice President, Materials and Supply Chain; VP/GM, Performance Materials; VP, Northern Europe; and Strategy Director, Commercial and Industrial segments, where she led initiatives to expand our international certification business.

Pedersen earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering and business from the Copenhagen Business School. 

Karen K. Pepping, Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Karen K. Pepping has served as a Senior Vice President and our Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) since June 2022. Pepping manages our global accounting team, including the office of the controller, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting, technical and revenue accounting and the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls program. 

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Pepping served as CAO at Convergint Technologies LLC; Corporate VP, Global Corporate Controller and Chief Financial Operations Officer at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.; and SVP, CAO and Controller at Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc. Pepping previously served in other financial leadership positions at public companies, along with beginning her career at BDO as an external auditor. 

She has extensive experience in Audit Committee ownership, SEC and SOX reporting, external audit management, and IT projects, including design, gap analysis, transition and change management.

Pepping earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Bradley University. Additionally, she earned a professional certificate in finance and financial management services at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified public accountant (CPA).

Upayan Sengupta, Senior Vice President, TIC — Consumer

Upayan Sengupta has served as our Senior Vice President of Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), Consumer segment, since January 2024. He leads the TIC Consumer business to help consumer electronics, IT, appliance, HVAC, lighting, retail, automotive system, medical and mobility customers access global markets.

Sengupta joined UL Solutions in 2015 and previously served as Senior Vice President of Field Engineering Services, collaborating with global customers through inspections, audits and other field-based services. He also served as our Vice President and General Manager of Health Sciences.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Sengupta spent more than years at 15 years at GE HealthCare Technologies Inc., serving in numerous positions in engineering, sales, operations and global supply chain management, most recently as program director of segmentation.

Sengupta earned a Master of Business Administration in marketing and strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University. 

Robert V. Slone, PhD, Senior Vice President and Chief Scientist

Dr. Robert V. Slone has served as a Senior Vice President and our Chief Scientist since August 2021. Slone is responsible for innovation, engineering, problem solving and research and development in the areas of safety, security and sustainability. He also is responsible for maintaining impartiality and trust for our work in testing, inspection and certification.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Slone served as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Honeywell Advanced Materials, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Honeywell UOP and Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer at Stepan Company.

Slone serves as an Executive Board Member of the International Science Reserve — a global network of open scientific communities that combines specialized resources to prepare for, and augment responses to, various global crises. He has been elected to the Market Strategy Board of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) for a three-year term (2025-2028). Slone was named the 2018 Safer Choice Summit Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Slone earned a Doctor of Philosophy in inorganic chemistry from Northwestern University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has earned numerous credentials from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), including a Professional Certificate in Sustainability.

Jeffrey A. Smidt, Senior Vice President, TIC — Industrial

Jeffrey A. Smidt has served as our Senior Vice President of Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC), Industrial segment, since January 2021. He leads UL Solutions’ Industrial TIC business to help our built environment, energy, industrial automation and engineered materials customers achieve global product compliance.

Smidt joined UL Solutions in 2004 and previously held numerous positions, including VP/GM of Energy and Power Technologies; VP/GM of the Appliances, HVAC and Lighting division; VP/GM of Energy and Industrial Systems; General Manager of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) division; and various operations management roles focused on process and systems optimization.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Smidt worked for several years in profit and loss management and business consulting, including positions at BearingPoint Consulting Inc. and Arthur Andersen LLP. 

Smidt earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Drake University. 

Sreelatha Surendranathan, Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer

Sreelatha Surendranathan has served as a Senior Vice President and our Chief Digital Officer since January 2021, leading UL Solutions’ efforts to deliver compelling integrated digital solutions, advanced capabilities and new business models that expertly serve our customers’ current and future needs. In this role, she oversees AI utilization; digital product development for Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC); architecture for next-generation digital solutions; and software execution and delivery. 

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Surendranathan spent 10 years at GE HealthCare, serving most recently as Vice President of Engineering. She previously served as Chief Technology Officer for SCO Logistics and then as Vice President of IT for Transplace (after the company acquired SCO Logistics). Surendranathan also held executive positions at ShipLogix Inc. and Perot Systems Corp. (later acquired by Dell Inc.), and she cofounded Software Minds, Inc.

Surendranathan has provided thought leadership through participation in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the European Commission, the TIC Council, Innovation Enterprise and other tech forums. She has served as an executive committee member on the board of governors for the nonprofit organization Lumity.

Surendranathan earned a post-graduate degree in management and organization from the Institute of Management and Communication and a master’s degree in literature and linguistics from the University of Hyderabad.

Ann Weeks, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs and Chief of Staff

Ann Weeks has served as our Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Chief of Staff since January 2023. In this role, she strengthens UL Solutions’ ability to monitor and manage its external business environment by fostering enhanced information flows, judicious decision-making and superb organizational performance. She leads initiatives with governments and other stakeholders related to policy and public-private partnerships informing and inspiring science-based policy solutions to today’s shared challenges.

Weeks joined UL Solutions in 2003 and has held numerous positions, including VP, Global Government Affairs (GGA); VP, GGA and Conformity Assessment Programs Office; Director, Government and Industry Affairs; and Manager, International Affairs. 

Prior to joining UL Solutions, she spent 10 years advancing U.S.-China commercial relations in both the public and private sectors, advising large multinational companies, as well as medium-sized and small businesses. 

Weeks earned a Master of Arts in International Affairs from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in political science, economics and business from Baldwin Wallace University. 

Angela C. Williams, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer

Angela C. Williams has served as a Senior Vice President and our Chief Information Security Officer since May 2022. Williams leads UL Solutions’ efforts to establish and maintain an information security program protecting our information assets and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure and processes.

Prior to joining UL Solutions, Williams served as Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for Hill-Rom — a publicly traded leader in medical technologies and products — where she was responsible for global information security strategy and operations. She previously held cybersecurity positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (and Blue Care Network) and the Wayne County Department of Technology.

Williams serves on the board of directors for Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, sits on the Cybersecurity Client Advisory Council for Ernst & Young (EY) and serves on the customer executive advisory board for eSentire. She is a Global CISO Governing Body member for Evanta and vice chair of InspireCISO Chicago chapter.

Williams earned a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in computer and information systems from the University of Detroit Mercy. Additionally, she has earned numerous ISACA certifications.
